New baby

I just received a Singer 66!! In good shape, with manual and lots of feet. The only thing it does not have is a belt!! Anyone know where I can get one in the Chicagoland area or in Tucson, AZ, where I will be next week? I have tried for the last 1/2 hour to post pictures, but no go....this new board is tricky to navigate! Read the photo posting instructions, but did not help...

It may be that your photo is too large, it needs to be less then 1 MB. Congrats on your new 66!!!

Beautiful machine, enjoy!

a good gentle cleaning will get her as good as new - you don't have to take off all the varnish to get her working just fine. The varnish is actually good - keeps it from rusting out

Thanks...I do see them on eBay...I was hoping to pick up locally, but will use eBay as last resort.

Have you called your local repairperson? I think most carry them. I was lucky - my Redeye needs one, but my Leader came with an extra.

Auctivia (I think that is the spelling)
has machine belts
on EBay for $5 - $10.

I bouth one for my 66 (but the original leather one is working now).

I love the Red Eye machines, just don't have one----yet!

purplefiend 02-21-2012 06:23 PM

Your 66-1 just like mine except that your presser foot bar has been changed to a side mounting foot system.
You can see some of my machines here:

scroll down the page until you find my nick(purplefiend).

BarbaraSue,
I have 2 Red Eye machines, one works the other one needs a bit of TLC to get her moving again.

Mesa, AZ - I know that this is over 300 miles away from Tucson, but you could call them. Singer has 4 very large shops (I think Singer owns these shops), around the country. When I was talking to Singer last week (two day event - but another story), I was told that when in the SW area that is the place that has ALL the Singer parts. I am away from my desk at this time, but I will PM you with the phone number. You can always call them when in Tucson and they can ship to you. Good luck - Snooks

If you have a shoe repair shop in the area try there. My husband just got a belt for the one he bought at a garage sale. Was like $16.

She is a beauty. Good luck finding a belt.
