New Craigslist find- 1933 Singer 15-91
1 Attachment(s)
I just got this 15-91 home today. I think it is going to be a bit of a challenge to get it going. Won't move at all and I plugged it in and nothing happens when using the knee control. I'll work on freeing it up and then investigate the wiring. The $20 I spent will be well worth the fun of getting it working again.

Lovely machine! Mine was in the same cabinet when I got it! but cabinet was in much worse shape. I still have the little flip out drawers.

Well, I found out one weird thing. One of the motor brushes was put in upside down, the spring to the inside. I found the spring when I took the motor cover off, then while further dismantling the motor I found one of the carbon brushes upside down. I guessing it didn't work very well that way.
On a related note, does anyone know a good place to buy the motor brush screw caps for the potted motors? The one with the upside down brush was in pretty bad shape. |

Price seems high but she's the cheapest I know of. Cari |
love my singer 15's. Stay with it,she is worth the effort. They are a real work horse. My dh brought me one 40 yrs ago for $20 in a cabinet. Still love her today!

$20.00 Yep worth every bit. Love the cabinet. Cosmetic wise machine doesn't look bad at all. Good luck!!

Brush caps are most expensive little part I have found. I was given the advice to be gentle with all of them, the originals and the replacements.

Thanks for the comments and the link to the caps, I'll be ordering 2, I have another machine with a broken one.
I oiled it pretty heavy last night and worked it this morning and got it moving again. I threaded it and it sews! Now I just got to get the motor cleaned up and put back and look into the knee controller. |
