New Home Sewing Machine Model No. 532 Help Please

Hi, I was just given this machine. It was my best friends who passed away a couple of years ago. There is no manual. The machine runs perfectly. It is like brand new. Here is my problem I just can't figure out how to do a straight stitch on the machine. All I can get it to do is a zig zag stitch. Does any one have this machine? Could you give me some instructions as to how to do a straight stitch. I am not sure what I am going to do with this machine as I have 5 other machines so I don't really want to purchase a manual if I am going to give it away, but before I can do this I really want to make sure that it runs properly. Thanks for any help that you can offer. Donna

Donna,

Sorry to hear about your friend. You're gonna keep it as a memorial of her, so getting a manual is more than worth it. Besides if you do give it away the next person might just be as confused about it's controls as you are and a manual will help with that.

As for telling you how to set it for SS, without a pic that's pretty difficult. Can you post a clear pic of the front of the machine? We can tell a lot about that.

Joe

Hi, Joe, and thank you for your kind words. I am in such turmoil about keeping it, I have 5 other sewing machines. But my emotions say to keep it. I will take a picture and post it in a few. Thanks, Donna

Donna,

Here is a manual for you: { http://pages.sewing-machine-manuals....922443092.html }. Not free but of excellent quality.

To release the ZZ controls loosen the little lock just above and to the right of the stitch width lever. Right at the top of the machine. That lever needs to move to the "0" side for straight stitch.

At least that's what it looks like from the picture on Relics.

Okay, why can't I see how to post pictures. I read the instructions, but I just can't find where the insert picture icon is!! Sorry, I am a computer tech. this one has me stumped.

Donna,

There is two ways to post pics using the forum's programs and pics stored on your hard drive.

First, click on the blue "Go Advanced" button under the post box, then when that page opens you'll be prompted on how to upload pics.

Second, go into your profile and adjust the settings so you get a tool bar on top of the post box. Then look for the little icon that looks like a picture frame with a tree in it. Clicking on that will open a browse box and you can post your pics.

Third, is when you have off site photo storage such as photobucket and use their links to post pics.

Hope this helps a bit.

Joe
