Here's a vintage New Home - just after I brought it home, prior to cleaning (note the dust!). I got it a month ago for my daughter-in-law who is learning to sew. It sews like a dream.
I recently got a Singer 201-2, so we each had new/old sewing machines to use.
1st project we did together was rescue from our basement an old oak couch hubby & I had for 27 years. She & our son are artists & chose bright colors. I think she is hooked - and she loves the color of this machine!

Question for Billy - when you have time, can you please check year for me - model 532, serial # 39493, J-A 30? Thanks.
Anyone know where I can get attachments?

Recovered couch & pillows, 1st use of her new machine. Next we'll make drapes. Our son has a painting for the wall.

Billy, that treadle base looks much better since your rescue!

And purplefiend - your New Home is unique - very cute!

Thank you Montanajan and Dingle, my purple New Home needs more work to sew properly.
I need to clean the thread path more as my thread gets dirty when I sew and the machine is noisy.
I bought the machine because she's purple. :D

I'm loving everyone's New Homes. Purplefiend's is still my favorite. The green younger New Home of Montanajan is a handsome looking machine too.

I have a New Home treadle and just bought a fairly modern (1970s?) for $5.00 from Habitat Restore. The treadle is in North Georgia and I'm down south. I think I looked it up once and its around 1899. Maybe little brother will post a picture, its a beautiful flip top cabinet.

it looks like about any short shank attachments should fit your machine - you can get them on line places like www.sewclassic.com has short shank, slant, or high shank. Yours is short shank. Those old New Home machines from the 60s are pretty nice.

Thanks for any and all help, I am green.

i found the bobbins but i can not find needles for this machine. i looked in a "needle book" and compared the one needle i got out with a pair of pliers. one came clost but it did not have a flat back, can i use a round needle? i order some from e-bay but the eye and the tip of the needle does not match up. i will have to send them back. where do i look now?
