Hi

I have just joined the forum. I have been collecting old sewing machines for about 5 years. I currently have 9 treadles and about 50 hand cranks (30 of which have to go), plus the odd electric like a Frister & Rossman Cub and a Willcox & Gibbs lockstitch industrial in a cabinet. I live in the UK in rural Leicestershire with my partner and lots of animals. I would like to start quilting, but spend most of my time restoring and repairing old machines. I buy most of my machines at auction, and the ones I don't want to keep I sell to pay for the ones I do.

I like all my machines to be in working order. I recently bought a Ward Arm & Platform machine which is the centrepiece of my collection, but I don't have any needles for it and no clue which needles it uses. I also recently won a Singer 206, which was the first zigzag model Singer made.

I also moderate the ISMACS Digest and belong to a few other forums like the Weavers and Spinners UK.

Thanks for the welcome. I am happy to help anyone if I have the knowledge. I've learnt quite a bit in 5 years, but there is always more to learn. I have worked on Singers, Jones, German and several other makes of machines, and managed to get most of them working as long as I had the parts. It helps to have ISMACS members on hand to ask if I get stuck. Most of the have been collecting and restoring for many years
