New Williams Vintage Treadle Sewing Machine
 

I have just made arrangements to purchase a New Williams Treadle in a beautiful oak cabinet. It is in very good condition & can't wait to get my hands on it. The owner has sent me several pictures & it looks amazing & in wonderful shape. I don't know anything about this machine. Can anyone help me with any info you might have.
Who made them - who is this "New Williams" a company that closed or operated under another name? Any help would be appreciated. I paid $100.00 for it but the condition is fantastic. The cabinet could have been refinished but the lady didn't think so. Picking it up on Monday as we are having a big snow storm here today in Northern Ontario but it beats the tornadoes the poor people in some of the States have experienced. My heart does out to them. Thank you in advance for any help I can get.

Just saw one on Ebay! No information about the company in the ad though.

I have one I got an an auction over 15 yrs ago for $40 if I remember correctly :-) At the time I didn't really buy it to use it, so other than refurbishing the stand she has remained hidden until recently...I am currently waiting for a package to arrive from the lovely Charlee containing what will hopefully be the correct bobbin shuttle as she didn't have one.

The above info is all I have been able to find on them.

...since yours sounds like it is a working machine I may be "bothering you" in the future! LOL

Tks for the link to the manual. I have printed it off & will post a pic soon. Considering its age it is in very good condition. I can't get at all the metal parts to clean them up better than I have already done. I would like to get the metal bar off that is down the front of the machine but can't seem to be able to remove it. The metal parts are a bit rusty but the machine itself is not too, too bad. Tks for the help.

Take the machine out on a warm sunny day to work on it. That metal bar that you are referring to, is that the bar for the shuttle( bobbin area)? Sometimes that area is difficult to open. Oil it up well and let the oil seep into the grooves while the machine sits out in the sun. The heat from the sun and the oil should help with getting that plate to slide.
Same goes for any other parts or screw that you are trying to get loose. Just clean her up with sewing oil! Enjoy!
