I have just acquired a 1911 Singer. What is the best way to care for the bentwood case? Or suggestions as to where I can find out.

What are you wanting to do to the bentwood case? Are you wanting to refinish the shellac or just restore what is there?

Welcome aboard! More information please. It may need anything from complete restoration to a light dusting. ;) Pictures will tell us a lot about your case's condition. Besides, we like pictures.
Glenn has a tutorial on restoring the finish on cabinetry down in the tutorial section. It applies to wood cases for portables too.
