Keep in mind when your outbid by $1 the high bidders maximum bid might be $50 more than the "winning bid". Last second bid programs are a good idea to use against the competing bidders who keep upping the bid "just $1 more" and have no willpower (sounds like me :)).

I never trust putting more than a couple of bucks ahead of my bid. I'm wary of shill bidders getting in there and knocking it up.

I can't think of a way to eliminate the possibility of shill bidders except by being the only bidder on an item. I bid a fair price, deal with sellers of good reputation, and try not to worry who's bidding against me.

You will always loose by about a dollar, unless you're bidding against more than one bidder who has put a high bid in. It's irritating, I know. If I REALLY want something, and I remember to be watching, I sit there with my highest comfortable bid entered and my finger on the trigger, I wait till XXXX left (not telling you, because it won't always work if your internet connection glitches at the wrong moment) then PULL, and let it go. I only bid in the beginning, because I want it in the "Buying" category instead of just in the "Watching".

nope no luck here - to exhausted from working 10 hours to keep up with the auction.

oh well, @ least that way it's positive cash flow!
