Oiling a Kenmore 158.510

I am having difficulty removing the top arm cover plate to oil the machine. In the manual it says the it can be removed with both hands. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thank you.

On most Kenmores, you open the left end door. Then put a medium size screwdriver under the left end of the lid, and pop it up. The lid is held on by some springs that pop over a ball connection.

Thank you, I will try that.
