OK...I "think" by bucket list is complete with this Lotus 66K

Picked up a lovely treadle the other day, and this was also in the booth, but had no dome top with it, so I passed but did ask if the top was available...got no reply but today when we returned to the antique mall it was there so after some "wheeling and dealing" it came home with me. It is a handcrank to boot, and made in Scotland in 1914...it was tagged as a 1910 Singer 28K, but I knew it was probably a 66 since I have one already. Sure enough it is a 66K...people do get confused over the serial numbers sometime. I had never seen a "Lotus" up close and personal...even the face plate matches the decals....it's in need of some shining up and some oil, but I'm doing the happy dance.....(and I think I'm done for quite a while now.) Hubby has found my last 3 machines...now he's making an extension table for me to fit the big portable Singers.

I've never seen a face plate like that. How lovely! Good score!

Macybaby 03-13-2014 05:18 PM

Great score! I've got a lotus in a cabinet, and it's got that same face plate. I recently picked up a hand crank with the Lotus decal on it, so mine is on the way to being swapped out into a bentwood case.

I have a handcrank with the decals like yours on my Tiffany 28.

What a beautiful machine!!!

That's a pretty one! The decals are so bright it looks like it's still new!

Sure is! Lotus 66Ks are very common here but not in that condition. Notice it still has its back clamp bar. Did you get plenty of feet with it?

Macybaby 03-14-2014 03:06 AM

If you need feet, pm me, I've got quite a few extras, along with the four complete sets I'm keeping.

Absolutely beautiful! My MIL has a Lotus 66 treadle in a cabinet, but my BIL keeps saying he would love to have some day (for show, not use!) so I guess it will never be mine, even though I am the only one who sews in the family. My MIL was saying I should take it when my BIL spoke up. Darn.

I have yet to see a Lotus 66 in my neck of the woods. And yours is a HC to boot! Yea!

Oh, My. What a lovely machine. I would never have been able to pass it up the first time around especially since it was an original handcrank. I am still looking for one of these and hope to find one in as nice a condition as yours. Enjoy!!!!!

Pretty machine. Does anyone know a pattern to make the little crocheted thread pad thing? I think they add a touch to the machines that the red felt pads don't.

Lucky you! The Lotus is also on my bucket list.

nanna-up-north 03-14-2014 06:38 AM

She's a beauty.... congrats on your great find.

callen 03-14-2014 08:18 AM

Wow, you sure scored on this one. It's a beauty.

csharp 03-14-2014 09:32 AM

Thank you all for your kind comments....yeah, I think I scored on this one...and my bank account it going "ouch" after the treadle purchase and then this one, but it is certainly m:)y pleasure to own them now and I will actually do some sewing on them. :o:thumbup::)

What a downright gorgeous machine!!! I can see why you could not pass it up. Did you make the spool pin doily for your machine or did it come with that? They look so right on these old machines.

Here is one link from Bonnie Hunter for a spool pin doily minibarn:

I need to make some of these for my older machines too.

You should have it as your the one who sews, and then if you ever don't use it your BIL could get it for decoration.

csharp 03-14-2014 10:24 AM

KLO...those doily spool pin covers came with the machines. Thanks for the link...I don't do the chrocheting thing much but others will be pleased to see the link.

Lovely machine!!! Great find....

Teacup 03-15-2014 06:05 AM

Oooohhhhh...so pretty. I'm determined not to allow my vintage herd to get too large, but I would have had a very difficult time leaving this one behind. In fact, it probably would have come home with me. She's a honey.

tropit 03-15-2014 06:44 AM

Nice! She's a keeper!

aronel 03-15-2014 09:07 AM

Wow, that is a beauty. It is 2 of my must have machines and you got it in one. Still searching.

roserips 03-15-2014 09:17 AM

Beautiful decals. Enjoy and a hand crank as well!

csharp 03-21-2014 06:01 PM

Ok friends and neighbors...I was just looking at a Singer site that called this the "Thistle" decal, which makes sense to me looking at the paint work on the machine, but I was under the impression that it was called a Lotus machine which many of you have agreed with...Probably called both right???
