ok- I think I got more than I barginned for.
DH got home very late, so I peaked in the van to see what he brought home. He told me there is at least another full load to pick up . . .
It turns out the seller had way more than what was pictures, and since she and her husband took a liking to my husband and his machine enthusiasm, and like what we are going to do - they started pulling out stuff they had stashed here and there. I expected to get three older whites and two 127 Singers, and Dh said there is more machines than that in the van - including one industrial. The seller is into woodworking and collected treadles over the years, restored some and decided it wasn't worth the effort as there is basically no market, and now her interest has changed and her husband wants the room in his shop - DH said there are a lot of dismantled treadle bases, as the tops were not salvageable (there are also lots of drawers) so we may see if we can make some "universal" type treadles just like how we converted the parlor cabinet. DH is going to clean a spot in the Boat shed (boat was sold this spring) and we'll unpack tonight - I'm excited to see what I've gotten in the first load! This fall we'll build our "Machine Museum" and then these will have a more permanent home. |
Very cool! Can't wait to see more.

Oooohhh I want pictures! Let us have peek at the sewing machine porn! :p

I can hardly wait to see your new treasures.

WE want pictures, sew excited to see what you have.

Anxious to see your recent "haul" and put me on your visitor's list when the museum is built!

After reading this post, I wish NC was closer to SD. I know I would want to visit your future museum. Maybe a road trip someday ......

Here it is - got home and had supper and then got to unloading.
Poor van was riding rather low - and it was a four hour trip home. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps63206d35.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psc9f31ee4.jpg First cabinet has a rusty New Home in it - cabinet needs some repair but is in overall decent condition. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...pse8043ffc.jpg Treadle parts - looks like two whites and two singers - and the one Singer has a wood pitman. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psb281ec62.jpg Some covers - one of them is in nice shape, the others are either missing veneer or it's in very bad shape http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps5f15cb15.jpg Lots of misc parts - drawers and sides and other parts. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psa1808cfb.jpg More misc peices http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psf17d227b.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps0596fab9.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps180ccebd.jpg And more machines - 4 Singer 27's, two White Rotarys and a National made machine. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps31f5b858.jpg A couple more cabinets - the smaller one is in decent shape http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps5402799a.jpg One came with a machine inside - the seller said she has forgotten it was in there. Another National made machine http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps62de0795.jpg I love the foot pedal in this one - cats thought it was interesting too. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps56b66091.jpg And one machine tossed in for good measure. This one belonged to the seller's husband, but he said he never used it so he let my husband have it. It's a 61W, have not looked up any info on it yet. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps48161385.jpg My husband said he's pretty sure he got all the machines and drawers, but that there is another load as big still waiting. We'll be going back this weekend and we'll pick up the rest on the way home. |
That is some haul! I also think a road trip would be fun.
|
What a haul...when are you EVER going to find time to do all that needs to be done to them?????
|
Ahhhhh.. lovely. I feel better now. So exciting to see your haul! I can't wait to see the rest. The 61W is interesting.

That Singer industrial is a rather interesting machine L61W5
Anyone notice some rather interesting details about it? It's got a Wheeler Wilson emblem in the middle of the bed, and WW throat/needle plates. |
HOW did ALL that get in the van? Great haul.

The parlor cabinet treadle and the twig emblem New Home treadle. I can't wait to see the rest. I wish I was closer so I could see it all in person. You're well on your way to having a very significant collection. Rodney |
I forgot to ask. What is that very fancy looking piece of white painted cast iron?

WOW, what a haul and there's more!!! We just might have to make a road trip to SD to see your museum but if not maybe you could take some pictures and post on the board when the museum is complete. I know everyone would love to see it.
|
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's quite a collection and more to come.
|
Lucky you. Would love to pick up a treadle base!

*** Nice haul. *** Don't lock the kitties in the cabinets. *** Mine like dark spaces to sleep. *** |
Wow. I would think at some point you will have to be a lot more selective in your gleanings.
|
Actually Macybaby has a purpose for her machines. They plan to open a museum on their property and she has a very extensive knowledge base. I'm certain there were at least a few items in the package deal that will contribute something meaningful to her collection and I'm certain she is selective in her purchases. Sometimes you have to buy the mine to get the gold.

I do pass up a lot, but getting a wide selection of treadle cabinet parts is right along with my "wants". Though I don't have a "need" for most of the machines, it was an "all or nothing" deal. The seller even put that in her listing - and wrote that she would not separate, so don't call asking if she would.

I don't know if you have ever seen this, but I found it randomly one day. I'm assuming a it's a long bed 61. But I can't find one listed as a 5. http://www.sil.si.edu/DigitalCollect...2752/index.htm |
amcatanzaro - that is a neat! I think the machine DH picked up is a bit later in mfg, using up the older WW beds but with a Singer head. The uptake bar is not in the same location, and a few other things are more "singer" than WW. I've got to go give it a good look over, and make sure my husband didn't miss something after the 5 when reading the number. I'll have to measure to be sure, but I think this one is longer than "regular" machines. It's interesting - if nothing else . . .
DH and I will be picking up the rest of the "loot" on Monday. Maybe the seller will have found a few other interesting items tucked away somewhere she wants to get hauled off. |
Nice haul! It looks like great fun. I notice you have some drawers from a 4 drawer White cabinet. I need a top left hand drawer, mine is broken.
