Old (Antique?) Pfaff Handcrank Fiddle base

Please help me identify this machine:
Hi,
I just returned w my find for today ~ an old Pfaff handcrank fiddle base sewing machine. The mechanisms work quite smoothly which frankly surprised me. Serial # is 1119xx.
This is my first Pfaff and I know nothing about it other than ISMACS has a machine w sn 115 dating to 1865. Is this really that old?
I'm wary to clean it, etc. What model is it? What size needle would this take? (It has one still in it). What size shuttle/bobbin?
My goal is to use it :)
Suggestions and info are truly appreciated!
TIA :)
Jae

Wow! Beautiful machine. It's certainly the oldest Pfaff I've seen. The design doesn't look 1860s to me. Sewing machines hadn't been around very long in the 1860s. Your design looks more 1880s or 1890s to me. (but then I've been wrong before.) I love the shuttle arrangement on that one.

Thank you, Rodney ~ and you're right about the age. In all my excitement, I misread the dating chart (oops): the mfg date is circa 1889-1890.

Sweeeet find, thank you for posting a pic.

it is a Singer 12 clone made by Pfaff. All of the instructions (and shuttle and bobbin) should be compatible.

Dating in the 1880-1890 is more appropriate.

Thanks, SteveH! Do you know what Pfaff called this model?

That is a beauty and the wood is just gorgeous. Can't wait to see it all cleaned up.:)

Jae,
Steve has given you lots of information. This is a transverse shuttle. Model FB. I can see the boat shuttle in your picture. Is there a bobbin in it? Does it have a needle in it now? If so, does it look like the shank is the same size (diameter) as the blade? If so, I can send you a couple of Schmetz needles that fit a Singer 12.

Can't figure out how to change my signature, so will add to it here.

Maria
