Old bernina 730

I was out thrift shopping yesterday with my sis and ran across this old machine and had to buy her. She is complete except for the knee lift bar, light bulb, and a missing button attachment foot. The control foot will have to be replaced too for it is cracked. I was surprised they only had a price tag of $9.99 on the top of the case. Now knowing what I paid for my slightly newer record 830, I snapped it up and placed it into my sister's cart. I had given my younger sister who lives in Sedona, az. my 830 and missed it. There were things I could do on it that I really wanted to do again.

I got to the checkout and found it was 30% off day and got it for 6.99. I tell you I was so tickled I just can't stop talking about it. I bought it home and couldn't stop cleaning on her until she shined again. She purrs like a kitten now. So quiet. I haven't tried out the sewing yet. I want to oil her up and clean a little more in the top gear area before that.

I am so excited. seven bucks .... OMG.

Wow. You got that for a steal! I have a 730 in my shop that I grabbed at a yard sale for 15 and it was filthy and had nothing other than the cord and pedal. I hope she sews a sweetly as she looks!

Oh hey does your shop sell the parts I need? That would be cool to get those with out a lot of searching.

I can't see why she won't sew perfectly. Nothing is broken inside and all the knobs work freely.

Lucky you! No my "shop" is just an area in the garage where I tinker. I don't operate a sewing machine shop. ;)

RedGarnet222,

You stole it.

My wife says she's jealous. I think I am too. :D

I am going to finish cleaning her foot pedal and cord and do some trial stitching on her this afternoon. I feel I stole her too. although I don't name my machines maybe I will name her Bonnie after the famous pair. LOL!

I found a helpful instructional video on U Tube and that should help me get a handle on how to operate the buttonholer and zigzag adjustments.

You sure did steal it. Congrats on your great find. I've been piecing on my rehabbed 730 all week.

You did get that at a steal of a price. Wow. Even $10 would have been a good deal. I love my 830 Record. Can't imagine why your 730 wouldn't sew as well. I love doing FMQing on my 830. The case that houses the feet and accessories is pretty cool too. Enjoy!
