Old Dearing D sewing machine
 

Hi. Posting this out there to see if anyone may possibly have information on it. It does seem to work. Still has a belt. I just have not been able to find another Dearing machine anywhere on the internet for comparison/info.

Does this machine have a log bobbin?

Yes, that would take a long shuttle.

I'm guessing that it is probably a badged Davis machine.

Not sure what that is but it only has what you see in the pictures

[ATTACH=CONFIG]614666[/ATTACH] if you slide the slide closest to the operator off, you should ( cross your fingers) find a silver bullet shaped piece under it. It is the shuttle. The tiny barbells are the bobbins that hold the thread for you to sew the bottom stitch with. They slip into the shuttle. You may need to turn the handwheel with the slide off till the shuttle appears.

arrow is for a thumbnail to slide it towards you. Yours may or may not have a slot. That's not biggee. .

This is from a much older Davis Treadle that winds it under the working surface. Yours is mounted to the upright pillar by the hand wheel. And it looks a bit different.

Davis Dearing D has a nice ring to it. It is a Davis model M-E and appears to be in good shape. This uses still available and common 15x1 needle. A part is missing on the bobbin winder on the left hand side. It is a knurled spring loaded screw that holds the left side of the bobbin in place. Not a problem to find a replacement. This is a good one if you plan on doing any sewing.
