Old National..

So went to my local Salvation Army Family Store last week and found a National Sewing Machine sitting there... Obviously bought it with little hesitation. Though I have to admit it is my first ever sewing machine.

My question is what year and model is it? It appears identical to the Eldredge, but it has the wrong paint job. Has an electric conversion and comes with a ton of accessories that are like alien artifacts to me... Any help is appreciated. I will throw a pic or two for reference and send or take more upon request.

Love the decals and looks to be in great shape. NOT BAD for your first ever sewing machine. May you be blessed with many more...

It's in unusually good condition. I clean and polish them with a resin type polish (for cars) to protect it from further wear and tear. I can't see any holes for a leather belt in the cabinet, so even with the larger spoked hand wheel I'm guessing it was electrical to start with.

It's beautiful! None of mine look that good, and I have close to 40 sewing machines!

The cabinet is not the original.

I don't know a thing about it other than it is a beautiful machine and looks in great shape. Lucky you.

Improved Eldredge B (IEB)

Based on the info I have one some of mine, I'd guess 1925-1930 for age.
Looks like you've got the manual for it, is should say IEB on the front near the bottom.

It's a good possibility. Here is the manual.

EDIT: Too bad the picture won't resize. I can't find IEB anywhere. Maybe not the proper manual? The sewing machine in the book 't the same as I have. I guess I will call it an IEB from this point on, until someone proves it different. THANKS!!

Based on the bobbin winder it appears it had to be a treadle at one time - how do you winder them now?
