Elaine - when you are composing a message click on Go Advanced. There you can select Manage Attachments, from which you can select pictures.

Elaine - it's a 201. The manual is available online:

There should also be tons of troubleshooting information available for one of Singer's most highly regarded models.

Elaine,
Once you get your 201 sewing properly, you'll have a lovely machine. I have a hand crank/treadle 1936 201, it sews great and is very quiet. The thingy on the front of the machine where the Singer logo is located is a seam guide magnet. I was teaching 2 little girls to sew and they liked the hand crank and the larger seam guide magnet better.
