Is this one of those shoe sewing machines?

This machine is coming up for auction in a couple of weeks. I don't think I'm interested but I would like to know what it is. I think it's a machine for sewing on shoes?? Sorry that the pictures aren't very good but that's what the auctioneer posted.

The second set of pictures is a treadle at the same auction. The DH likes the cabinet but I don't have the room for it.

the first two pictures are of a Singer 29 series patcher. Yes, a boot/shoe machine.

The light and the drawer are not original to the machine.

around here they tend to be listed for 800-1000 but sell for more like 200-500.

LOVE that cabinet!!!!

Steve, do you know what size needle that singer 29 would take? I'm just curious about it. I bet it sells for less than $200. I've seen a lot of machines sell at this person's auctions but many of them aren't in great shape.

Yes, Jim... that one is pretty.

size 29.. yep, really really. 29x1, 29x2, 29x3, 29x4

Macybaby refers to them as "spears"

it's the machine that defined the needle.

Thanks again, Steve. I will check this one out.... it's unusual. It appears that the treadle belt is still there. Perhaps it will turn.... I'll have to wait until I see it in person.

This bunch of auctions are from an antique dealer that died a couple of years ago. She had 4-5 houses and a couple of warehouses full of stuff..... packed floor to ceiling. It has been a treasure hunt to go to these auctions. The heirs don't even know what they will find as they work themselves through the places. They are having these auctions every couple of weeks during the summer. We went to 5 or 6 last summer and have already gone to 2 this year. It's been fun. You never know what you will find.

Good eye! I'm not sure what I'd do with it but I'd love to have the 29. The cabinet is one my favorites too.

I would love that sewing machine cabinet, but like almost everyone else, I'm not sure where I'd put it! I really don't have room for it anyway. We had to clean out my 87 year-old aunt's house, including her books, family histories, her parents' china and crystal, and it's sitting in my living room in rubbermaid totes. I am so sick of seeing those things I could scream! I am going to get that stuff out of my house -- I just need to buy a china cabinet (another one) for the old china and crystal. The other stuff, I think we can handle!
