Opinions needed please??

This is listed on my local CL...isn't it a Rocketeer? What would be a good price?

Thanks,
Carolyn

Price always depends on how much you want it..... can't be of much help but it looks like a lovely machine and cabinet.

Yup it sure is. I usually get $135 - $150 for those but I would advertise at that price. You will want to check cords/foot control, see if it sews, check the control knobs to see if they move smoothly, dings & scratches, stitch length all there? balance wheel stuck? accessories? It should have 5 disks. Some times you will see one that is especially nice. It should go for more. Some times you will see one in cruddy shape - check the hinged doors - are they broken/out of alignment, etc. Spool holders all there? I've also sold some for around $100 but they had way less than perfect cosmetics. I go over mine to get them in top running condition too. If it is in less than top condition I would offer less.

wow I dont know but its so nice.

Rocketeers are awesome machines if they're in great condition like Miriam said. Definitely worth a look-see!

Ok, another question??? I am also looking at a Phaff 6 for $125 plus $42 shipping. All things being equal, i.e.; good running condition, good surface condition and attachments, would you consider the Rocketeer or the Phaff 6? I already have a 301A, 401A, 185J, 66 Handcrank and 128 and 2 FWS...not like I NEED another machine but you know how our "wants" are!!

Candace 03-28-2012 10:04 AM

If you already have the 401A, the Rocketeer isn't going to be any different. It's the same machine except with a different style body. So, that's something to consider.

Complete novice here, but love to read and watch everyday here on the board. Question. This picture looks just like my Slantamatic 500. What is the difference between the Rockateer and the 500. On the 500, the top plate lid opens and has cams. And I couldn't give it away at $75 a couple of years ago at a garage sale, which is fine, because I decided to keep it.

Baywinds, The 500 is the Rocketeer....it was nicknamed that because of the shape of the machine. :) I'm glad you decided to keep it! They're wonderful machines!!

Price depends on where you live too. Around here they are 150.00 and up.
