Parts for a Willcox & Gibbs?

Probably the last machine we're going to order from eBay. They rubberbanded the thread spool pin to the needle bar, where it twisted sometime during shipping, snapped the needle bar and bent the takeup. :( Anyone know of a source for parted out W&G machines? Failing that I may try JB weld and some judicious bending but I think I'd rather replace the damaged parts if I can. BTW, they're giving a full refund as the problem was definitely in shipping but I'd rather they'd done a good job packing it like I'd asked.

What model of W&G?

You might try http://thayerrags.com/ . They have some old stuff.

Joe - good question. Looks like the standard W&G that most people post pictures of. I haven't set about trying to date it but I seem to remember the seller saying it was 1894 or something like that. Here are some pictures of the damage. I'll check out the link, thanks.

JB Weld should do it. I had a W&G missing the entire needle bar and there's a few different sizes out there. Never did get the right one.

Jon - thanks. I may go ahead and try that as it's no worse off if it doesn't work.

Your receipt of that W&G will make me think twice about ordering another from the internet...thanks for the info and sorry for your problem.

Might want to negotiate with seller and ebay.

Kittywolf - yes, it still moves some. It looks like it will move freely once I get the takeup bent back into shape. If someone could post some close up shots of what that's all supposed to look like it I can use them to guide my reshaping process.

well I raced out to my new toy and took some shots. I am not sure that putting the fabric behind the mechanism helped or not- I can try again if you need me to.
