My DD is visiting a friend in Wyoming. Deep in the basement was this Pfaff 130-6. She is trying to figure out how to get this machine from Wyoming to Washington, LOL.

Among the sewing accessories was these funky scissors. I know I have seen ones before, but I can't remember when or what they were used for. Anyone???

I have a pare of those with "Singer" stamped on them - picked them up at a yard sale a couple years ago - I couldn't figure it out either. Just know they don't cut fabric very well - I grab them for cutting paper.

I think that they're Buttonhole Scissors.

Thanks CD. I did a quick internet search and found them.

My Mom has a pair of those scissors. They are for cutting open buttonholes after you stitch them.

Yep, I have a set as well. They work great.

Send the machine by Greyhound bus. They will take a package up to 50 pounds. Get a plastic tote and 2 new bed pillows. Put a pillow in the bottom of the tote, then the machine laying on its side topped by another bed pillow. Put the top on the tote and seal all around the top with duct tape and run a few straps of duct tape around the outside of the tote to seal it securely. I sent a 130-6 from TN to Los Angeles, CA. It arrived in perfect condition.

The thing with Greyhound is they don't switch buses - they switch drivers. Once the tote goes into the belly of the bus it stays there until it gets to its destination. It is also very affordable. Their website gives all the stations that have package service.

Depending on the size of the desk it is in they will ship it too. You will have to remove the legs and wrap them securely to the cabinet. The easiest way to do that is with that plastic cling wrap they sell at Lowe's. You can wrap the whole cabinet in the plastic wrap if you want as long as it meets Greyhounds size and weight restrictions.

Another tip for packing things like this...
If you have time and access...
Salvage yards that take in junk RV's give away or sell for peanuts the foam cushions.
Large 4 to 6" foam slabs for just a couple of bucks if not free

There's one of those here on CL in a very broken cabinet. Nice find and good luck getting it back.
