Pfaff 130 - My mama's machine

Last night I took custody of the machine I learned to sew on. Pfaff started building the 130 in 1922.

Mama died in 1990, Dad in 2013. The machine has sat since then, My stepmother is trying to clear a lot of junk. She wasn't in a hurry, but my local quilt shop has a coupon that expires in 4 days for $20 off service, so I nabbed it. the toolkit, abut a dozen bobbins, a passel of needles and a couple items that are "junk" but precious to me.

I did NOT take the ginormous cabinet my father built - which was the only place I've ever seen the machine. Our house is tiny.

The 130 is built to fold down. Assuming that service can bring this bulletproof grand old lady back to life, I'm going to need to mount her on or in something. Has anybody ever done this with a 130 or similar machine?

Glad you managed to selvage your old friend. I don't have any experience with that brand so I can't help.

My Pfaff 130 came in its original factory cabinet, so I have no answers for that problem. I just wanted to congratulate you on getting the machine. I use mine every day and would never get rid of it.

My husband has made frames for some of my beheaded machines.

According to https://www.quiltingboard.com/vintag...a-t267854.html It is mentioned that the 130 will fit into the Singer cabinet or case for flat bed machines. If you find an empty cabinet or case you will have to measure the hinge pin spacing and size of the pins to be sure it fits. I picked up a simple cabinet and while the spacing was correct, the pins were too large to fit the Singers and Japanese machines. I've heard of some that will file the pins to fit. Some Montgomery Wards machines have same spacing but it is offset from end of machine so needed a piece to work with a lot of cabinets. A lot of Kenmore machines have more squarish corners, the cabinets may work but will have a space that things will fall into.

There are lots of options out there. https://www.google.com/search?q=+&nu...g+machine+case and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNIs7ZsyTus

Here is another video I found about using a Singer case or cabinet for this machine. The guy gives measurements and such but it is a little irritating to watch due to camera movement etc.

A kenmore cabinet won't work without a lot of modifications. Hinge pin spacing is wrong as well as the bed shape.
