If I manage to figure out how to program a serpentine stitch -

is it for one length and width only - or can it be varied by length and width like the other programmed stitches?

I have a 1473 and can't figure out the serpentine. I'll be watching this thread.

I don't think it has one. I also have a 1473.

I'm guessing you mean more like the stitches shown at https://www.quiltingboard.com/pictur...h-t278440.html and not #19 on the 1471. That looks to be for the 9mm width machine. I know I programmed some stitches years ago, but haven't played with any for a long time. I have four manuals that I have downloaded over the years. I actually had borrowed a manual for a bit before I got my used 1471 machine in the early 1990s. When I got my machine the original manual was cut apart and put in the workbook in the appropriate sections. I would have preferred the manual kept whole and then maybe referenced in the workbook. One of the PDFs I have is 185 pages. On page 110 of the pdf might be 96 of the original manual and it appears that you can change pattern width and length.

Just curious on the 1473 is pattern #14 like what I would consider a blanket stitch like would be used on applique? I remember reading about someone wanting to know a machine that had a blanket stitch to use on applique. I know the blind stitch doesn't look right as it has a ZZ stitch and not a straight out and back stitch. I actually programmed a blind stitch as I didn't like the length of the ZZ part. My program was a short zig zag and I liked it better than the built in stitch.
