Pfaff 92

Anyone have any info about this machine or experience with one?

A friend called me and said she bought one at a yard sale and that I could have it for what she paid for it - $75 - says it has a manual, attachments, cams and runs. She said that she had a hard time threading through the tension and that it was either too slack or too tight - said that if I don't want it she knows someone else who might.

I don't know anything about Pfaffs and even though I searched on the internet, I couldn't find any comments or reviews on this model but found manuals. I think it is from around 1962.

I'm not sure if I want to take it from her since I am not familiar with it and I have other machines on my "must find" list so any comments/advice are greatly appreciated :)

She said she also has a 2 tone green Singer from her brother that she doesn't want any more - asked her if it was a 185J but she wasn't sure what it was. I'm going tomorrow morning to check them out.

Take a copy of the manual you found on the net to make sure it's threaded correctly. It sounds like it isn't. I'm not familiar with this particular model, but you'll have to see if you like it after test driving it.

Never heard of a Pfaff 92. I have a Pfaff 130 from Germany made in 1950, and a Pfaff 262 made in 1968. Is there a Pfaff dealer near you that has been in business for a while, or an older repair person that knows about older mechanical machines that you could inquire or get more info from? Try googling "history of Pfaff".
