Woke up this morning and got a better look at Sally in the sunlight. Something I neglected to mention last night is she came in a cabinet. Not a very good cabinet and I'm going to have to change out the hinges.

The part of the cord that is cut is the part that actually goes into the motor. So, Joe, can I open that up and change out the cord? It's the part of the cord that has the foot pedal. The part with the plug is fine. My cord from the FW has both foot pedal and plug removable. But it worked to test Sally.

I don't think I'm going to mess with the scratched Sally. She's very light just like some tiny hand scratching with a pin. It looks like she tried to scratch it twice . . . and probably got caught.

Once the machine is fixed, I'll give it to my granddaughter so she and my daughter don't have to fight over the other 201 I gave them a while ago.

If you can plug your FW cord into the block and the machine works, then the wires to the motor are intact. All you need is a new cord set ..... Sew-Classic or you LSMG.

Could you post a pic of the cut wires?

If you are talking about the hinges to the top cover, here's a tip. Get some veneer or real thin wood, or even the cardboard from the back of a legal pad or similar, and roll it up in a tight tube. Put some Elmer's Wood Glue Max on the rolled up tube then tap it into the screw holes. Then screw in the screws. Works wonders for wallowed out screw holes. That's what I had to do with my Freebee Kenmore cabinet lid. Best thing is, it's an invisible fix.

I'll bet Sally's mother was upset when she scratched her name in the machine!!! I know I'd have been...... but now, I look at your machine and just smile! I can imagine the young Sally wanting to think that writing her name on the machine was a good idea. Probably she found s stray needle or pin and did it while momma was busy somewhere else. I'd leave the name in there too. It just makes the machine just so much more dear.

Perfect name for her. It is part of her history.
