Pitting?
 

Can anything be done for areas that are worn through the finish leaving a poured look? What about on those areas where machine meets base and the finish is completely gone?

Cheryl, are you talking about an old black machine? I use "Rust O'Leum" gloss black paint to do minor touch ups. I was able to buy some paint on ebay to touch up my 500A from a guy...it was a perfect match!!
