YES and they don't get hot!

The machines that have switches generally turn the lights on at the same time. That is no problem at all. There are some machines such as my Singer 328K that has no switch for the blub. When you plug it in, the light comes on. That one irritates me as I have to unplug it every time I leave the machine.

My Kenmore's have shielded lights. Meaning I don't get burned by them. And I use the machine mounted lights as well as external lights.

What I'm waiting for is someone to offer reasonably priced LED lights for the screw in bulb machines. That would be a big help.

Me, too. I want one.

Until those lights become reasonable in price, I just use an LED strip of lights for "blinging" cars out that I put a lead on and connect to a 12v transformer to plug in. The ones that use 3m tape to hold to whatever. I use it under the arm of the machine to light the bed. Of course there are certain machines I won't do it to, but my daily use machines are no problem.

maybe a head band lamp?

I need to look into LED lamps more. It should be easy to come up with a clean looking conversion kit for most machines. The person doing the installing would have to be just a little bit handy though.
