It might be one of the current production models, made in India or China, and I guess various places in East Asia. I don't know too much about them, many of them are domestic model 15 clones, a few of them look a bit like industrial models. Some look even a bit like a Pfaff 130. They look like they are based on know vintage models, but often deviate a bit on certain features. With a bit of search you might find your model. Expect to find the exact same model under various brand names, finishes and decal set.

yep, the feed dog knob screams, modern machine from Asia. It will prolly have a serial # starting with N under the bed. I've seen a few, never messed with one. Some say they are OK, but a bit noisy. Singer 99 manual will kinda cover what you need but the stich control is like a Singer 15.

Is the bobbin case standard CB 15 or something else? 60 years ago the machine could have been made in Japan too. Singer had factories all over the world at one point, and it sort of gave off spring to local production many places. I guess the machine was made for the Japanese or perhaps Chinese (Taiwan?) marked. Maybe it's possible to find someone who can read the writing on the machine; there shoudl be a red herring to follow. I can't tell the difference with signs like this.

What we need is an Asian languages expert, because it says something right there on the front. I red boxed it.

Also, aside from the fact that I can't read what it says, those are really beautiful decals and it looks like Grandma kept it in very nice condition. I wonder if she used it very much? |
