Pretty in Pink Atlas Precision Sewing Machine

My local Craig List had a posting for an Atlas machine. I absolutely do not need another machine. Really!!! But it was so cute in all it's pinkness and it was fairly local to me so I sent a query about the condition, runability (is that a word?), belt, power cord, bobbin case, etc. All seemed good except for the belt .... basically shredded. It even had a pink metal box full of feet and such. So I made what I thought was an offer that would not be accepted because as I mentioned, I really, really do not need another machine. As you can guess, the guy accepted the offer, met me at a local store yesterday, and sold me his mother's Atlas. Ugh! I DO NOT need another machine! But at least I saved her as he knew nothing about the machine. It says It needs to be cleaned up and the case/box needs some "smell away". So anyway, I need a new belt and a manual. Does anyone know where I can get either? I think the belt might be a generic so I will just have to measure it to get one. I will need to know where to oil it and how to thread it so hopefully I can find that manual. Oh and as most of you probably already know ..... That pink baby weighs a t-o-n but bet she will last forever. It says "Exclusively Made for Atlas in Japan" and "Atlas Sewing Centers, Miami FL" on it. This is probably a clone of some sort right? Thanks for any help given.

Oh lucky you! Does yours have a decal of Atlas holding up the globe on the bed of the machine? I have a pink Atlas too. They are the very cutest, and as you have demonstrated, simply irresistible!

A photo would be nice ....

You are so lucky! I inherited my mom's pink Atlas after she passed. I love that old machine, I learned to sew on it when I was eight years old. (That was a looooonnnnngggg time ago!)

I bought one for $20 off of Craigslist. It was missing the bobbin case, but I had one at home that would fit it. I don't think I got any attachments with that one. It is in a cabinet, hidden in plain sight. Thus I don't get her out as much as I should. Congratulations. At least you rescued her.

I have a precious pinkie, as well. I didn't need another machine, either, but she was with a blue Free machine and they looked really cute together. I brought them both home and I'm not sorry!!!!!

Just Google what you know and see what happens. If you can post a photo someone may have a manual for it. And if you have a model number.

I am hoping that the link below will show you what the Atlas looks like.

totosmom: yes, she does have that Atlas holding up the globe on the bed and the front right side. Cute, huh?

Prim Quilts: I got mine for $25 even though the guy was asking for $50. He was just glad to get it out of his garage since no one in his family sewed now. It had been his mom's. This one is in a case.

MimiBug123: I am not sorry either even though I really did not need another machine!!!

tessagin: I have be googling but have not yet found a source for the manual. Don't even know where the model number is ..... hmmm, maybe underneath the machine? I am hoping that the imagine I tried to post comes through as I cannot do a photo.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I am still hoping someone out there can direct me to a site for the manual.

KLO, I have sent you a PM. I have a pdf of the manual.

Tate

Edited to add: I should have said for anyone else interested, I found the pdf at this Yahoo group - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vintag...sewingmachines

It is in the Files section, as HA4-B2 Brother Manual.

Jenny at sew-classic.com will have the belt.

Just wanted to publicly (sort of) thank tate_elliott for the instructions to use with my-new-to me Atlas. I often read people's post on the QB about how wonderful it is to be a member of this group. How everyone is so sharing and will find patterns, fabric, etc. for them. Well, I am now one of those people. Thanks to Tate I now have the instruction booklet needed to work with this machine. Thanks Tate. It's good to be a QB member!!!
