Also, where is the oil wick for the rotary bobbin?

There was wasp mud in the lever that oscillates the rotary hook shaft and the oiling hadn't gotten through until I forced it. Then all's good.

Here it is in a transition base while I work other parts. I didn't notice until today the rubber wheel on the bobbin winder was gone. Someone really put this thing out in the barn.

You'll see the old SINGER plug connected to the 3 pin base, so I may incorporate that into a new foot pedal.

Great that you got it unstuck. It's not a rotary, it's an oscillating hook. Goes back and forth, not round and round. There is no wick there, a small drop of oil on the race once in a while is sufficient. Here's a great tutorial for overhauling the motor. It's for a 201-2 but it's the same motor.

If you peruse other postings on Rains' blog you'll find a wealth of info there.

It turns smoothly now? Your spare base looks nice and the machine will look much better when it's cleaned and polished. The chromed parts shine up very nicely with some kind of metal polish, the same goes for the needle bar and presser bar. I remember the pictures from the earlier posts; layers of grime and dried up oil. I know it will clean up fine, but it looks like hard work :- )

Looking good so far. Amazing what a little oil can do isn't it?

I guess oscillate and rotary are contradictory terms! Didn't even think of the difference!

If you need pictures to work off of, please let me know I'd be happy to take pictures of how the wires look in mine and send them your way.

The 115 is a true rotary. It looks just like the 15 but has a smaller hook assembly. I don't think they were made as long as the 15s.
It might be a good idea to keep all your posts about this machine in the same thread. Keeping everything in the same place makes a difference later to those who are trying to find info on a particular machine.
It's a rule on another forum that I like and it works pretty well there.
I forgot to mention earlier that I like the base. Is it staying with the machine?

Looking good! This is the least troublesome model Singer made. It handles a wide range of fabrics and threads with aplomb. Nice to see your progress - keep us posted!

The base is from a case for a SINGER 226, I had my 201 in it. Recently put the 201 in a large wooden portable case. May switch them out, idk. The 226 with the neat base was a lucky find.
