Questions regarding Davis Vertical feed machines

Whats vertical feed ? is it a needle feed machine ? and also I have seen a lot of adds and discussion ( and the definitive works at ISMACS) describe machines as "Drop feed"

so someone school me up on what makes these machine different, it does not have to be basic, I mean I know walking foot needle feed combined feed and can find my way around the internals pretty ok, but I have yet to deal with any of these other systems ( or maybe I have just was not aware of what they were called ) anyway trying to arm myself for finding a Vintage industrial.

Thank you , so it is a "walking foot" and has no lower feed dogs.
