Is this for real!!!

This is a listing on CL for a 301 for $140. Has someone repainted this machine or did Singer make a 301 in this color?

I like the color. They also have it listed as an "antique". I overlook words like that. For the price and if it runs or not, I'd go get it. Take some one with you. I would save/print the photo to compare. If it were closer, I'd be looking into it.

The 301 and featherweight are often repainted.

Either way, I'd go get it!

It's just a trick of the lighting - that's the typical beige machine. Good price, though, with the case.

That's one of the original colors it came in. Long bed, too.... score!

*** I think it is ORIGINAL but the lighting is making the color off.

Is the 301 aluminum?

maryrose67 06-28-2016 01:43 PM

Yes, the 301 has an aluminum head, weighs about 16 pounds, metal gears, slant needle. I love sewing on mine. It's a nice, simple ,straight stitch machine. IMO, one of the best vintage sewing machine made by Singer.

I don't have much comparison, but I like my 301. It's a great straight stitch machine
