Well, it's a Kenmore ZZ sewing machine. Probably a 158 series by the shape of it. Looking at the controls I'd say the machine has a built in button hole stitch in addition to the SS and ZZ stitches.
It has a feed dog drop knob for FMQ as well.

Nice machine. I might try to get the seller down to $40, but I wouldn't go down to $30. Just me.

But if it is Gastonia, you probably should double the price, because who can go to Gastonia without stopping at Mary Jo's?

Just love these old guys!! He must be an early 158, he looks way different from mine (158.17600)! I'll watch it for a while. I am maybe an hour from gastonia . . . and I have never been to mary jo's!! ;0))

Lara,

It's a 148.xxx or a 158.xxx. Looks to be a plain zig-zag and straight stitcher. The knob to the left of the width adjustment is to lock the width in place. These are good sturdy machines.
You have a 158.1760!? WOW I have only seen one other of these. I bought mine new in April 1978, it was on a close out sale at Sears, I guess it was last year's model. I have never even a tiny problem with it. It is still my go to machine. It goes get very vocal when I have been lax in oiling.

If you do get to Mary Jo's, wear good walking shoes and bring money. You can't get out of there without buying lots of fabric and notions. Awesome place. Great prices! I hope to get back to NC someday and visit Mary Jo's again.

Cathy, you are so right! My workhorse does get noisy when he needs attention!! I would love to go to Mary Jo's, but taking money would be difficult, lol!!

I will keep an eye on this one on c/l. there is a 158 that looks exactly like mine - only *very* nice shape, and loaded. She is asking (and has been) $300!
