Recognize these three?
http://charlotte.craigslist.org/for/3737760979.html a brother in a molded plastic case
http://charlotte.craigslist.org/atq/3728941306.html beige singer . . ? I did email her ;0) http://charlotte.craigslist.org/atq/3774395139.html a white (that is black! lol) and this one is just for 'wow' . . http://charlotte.craigslist.org/atq/3774005664.html I'd LOVE to have him, too much dollars for me though. |
Wow indeed. Look at that baby shine - and look at that case!!

The taupe Singer is a 306 swing needle. That crinkled finish is the hardest thing to keep clean, though. Definitely worth buying. And it can be treadled, too. Takes cams that are pretty readily available if you look for them.
We had a White head like that, not the same cabinet, that the previous owner left at the house my parents bought. It was an okay machine, but the friction wheel thing added rumble to the sewing process. I sewed on it some. My mother was a Singer fan and she sold the White after a while. That Brother teal and cream zz, I would love to play with. I've never tried one. |
a Rocketeer down there, too. :-) $75
http://charlotte.craigslist.org/hsd/3770254792.html and tan crinkle 319W $200 http://charlotte.craigslist.org/art/3760776115.html The 319W was the last of the swing needle machines. It has built-in fancy stitches plus takes cams. |
oh, i recognized that one!! going to see it tomorrow!! ;0))

what is a swing needle?
$200 seems like a lot for an old machine . .. especially in Gastonia!! lol |
meant to add also, that guy - Bill - has a lot of old machines for sale, all for big prices. He has the Russian 'toy' sewing machine too . . . He's been trying to sell them all for a while!

It looks like a 306 (same as the 319, but without the levers) See http://sewingonline.co.uk/books/SING...K22-306K23.jpg. If it comes with the cams, I'd pay $60 because of the cabinet (those drawers look really useful). Mike P.S. 306/319 take a special needle. Don't try and use a 15x1 or you'll damage it. Lots of information about this, but the machine's worth it. I found the special needles for 60 cents each and in Australia, that's unbelievably cheap :-) |
Well, I did it! I went and bought that Rocketeer today. I gave $20 for it. It is missing the motor, the hinge plate is broken and the needle position lever is frozen. The hand we'll does turn, though. It does not have the dog out with all of the letters on it like my beat up one does. The cabinet seems pretty nice, and I think I could at least put my singer 248 in it. Hopefully I'm not in too much trouble with the husband.
