Refreshing a Stitch Regulator Plate on a 15-91
 

The stitch regulator plate on my 15-91 has lost most of the white paint that shows stitch sizes. Does anyone know how I can refresh the numbering without making a mess? Is there some type of really, really thin point pen I can use?

Testors model paint and a toothpick or super fine artist brush?

Good suggestion on the Testors paint, hadn't thought of that. But I'm really bad with a brush in my hand. I have seen super skinny plastic toothpicks in the dental supply area, I could try those instead of the brush.

I have heard of painting in crevices by putting paint on and immediately wiping it off. That only leaves it in the little indentions. I wouldn't try this unless you read somewhere else that it will work. Then you have to put something on it to seal it. Once again, an expert needs to tell you what. The vintage machine thread on this board is very knowledge and helpful to all.

Basically, you just paint with acrylic paint and then quickly and lightly clean up with a q-tip, then repeat. The instructions on the blog are excellent. I need to do the same thing on my 201.

The one on my 15-91 is so bad I'll have to strip all the original paint off of it, then start from scratch.
Rain does some great "How To's" doesn't he? Wish he posted here more.

I used typing correcting liquid and wiped it in the groves/numbers and QUICKLY removed it with a cotton ball. It worked!!

I'm going to try this method. Wish me luck!

I did it using the testor's white paint and wiped it off with a cotton ball, it worked!
