Removing light bulb on FW 221

When I tried to remove the OLD light bulb in FW, it broke. I was able to remove all the glass part, but the metal part is still in the light fixture. How do I remove it? I know I have to push and twist, but there's nothing to hold on to. Any helpful suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

If you have a pair of needle nose pliers you could grab onto the part that is stuck with those, push in, twist it and then pull the whole thing out. Hopefully that will help you.

I once read a hint for a similar situation -- the advice was to use a piece of apple to ensure all the glass was caught up in the apple (and maybe provide some lubrication?) Not sure if it would work -- I think the needle nosed pliers would be more reliable!

Use the needle nose pliars ONLY after you've unplugged that baby! And I'd heard to use a potato just the way gspsplease suggested.

I too have heard of using a potato to get it out

I had this happen recently on one of my Kenmore machines and still have not gotten it out. Please let me know if you have any success, I have tried all of the above suggestions with no luck. Right now I have a book light attached to my machine for light along with my ott light sitting on the desk by my machine, but the lighting is just not the same.
