Repurposing treadle cabinet parts

These are all from the "two van loads" full of cabinets and parts. There were only a few whole cabinets - and a whole lot of cabinet pieces. Most of which were discards from the lady restoring others, with a few that are still quite nice.

So I've been thinking of ways to use them in the Machine Shed. DH made me some shadow boxes, and the cabinet tops make nice frames. BTW - though all the hardware is removed, the tops have not been altered.

I love the decal - and one still in very good shape

This one is an inlay

Love the patent date!

Found room for more drawers - I'll be putting another column of three below this one.

I also got my curtain rods hung - eventually I'll have quilts/wall hangings to put up. Gotta get done with this so I can get back to making them. They are almost all the way around the perimeter of the room.

Love your space Cathy!

Nice. I think you need a couple more cabinets to make those great frames. Love them.

Very creative way to put those pieces to good use. What are those metal framework pieces on the wall in picture 6? They look like something to make patterns for clothing.

Looks good! I like that you can turn them back into their intended use at any time too. Nothing is being destroyed in your repurposing.

What a great idea for re-purposing the beautiful wood.

I too think what you did is very inventive and creative. Great way to repurpose and get added shelf space especially since you have so many of those old bits and pieces. When you get the chance, could you talk a little more about the curtain rods you put up? Did you say before that they were from Ikea or did I just imagine that? That seems like a great idea also.

I had planned on getting the curtain rods from Ikea - but found these on sale at Wallmart - so grabbed them up. They aren't near as nice as the Ikea one I have, but a lot cheaper - and available! Nearest Ikea is 400 miles away. The rings are sold separately - the neat part is the rings have little clips on the ends, so I can hang up a quilt without any type of modification to the quilt. I need to get more rings - hopefully our local Walmart will have them.

What worked out neat with these cheaper ones, - the rods had two wide diameter ends, and an expansion pole in the middle, so where I went around a bend, I bent the middle pole - and if needed, cut the outer one shorter. You can go as short as 45" with one pole, then up to 10' with the three fully extended. I had not planned on going around corners, but it made it nice to be able to do that.

penny candy - those frames are the McDowell Garment System - they sure are neat!

can you post a photo of the rings with clips? IKEA here is 3 minute drive.

This is a random internet picture of what they look like. Ikea was the first place I saw them, but they are available all over.
