Road trip time
My husband (who should have been outside putting up the door on the new garden shed) was cruising CraigsList - and found a lavender Necchi Julia (supernova) - only two hours away - which we consider an easy drive.
So we are on our way . . . |
Good luck! I hope the trip is a success.

It's not every machine that can hang from the ceiling like that. ;)

Here's the rest of the story.
We get on the road and DH gets an email - he had contacted someone about a beat up 66 lotus they had (along with a bunch of other stuff in their garage). They were in the same general direction so he made arrangements to stop and pick it up for $20 (just the machine). We went for the Necchi first. DH wanted to make sure the cam followers would work. The last machine he bought (Bernina 530) he checked out and made sure it would do a nice straight stitch, but didn't try the cams and that part was frozen up (is working now). So with this machine, he puts in a cam and we're trying everything to get it to make the pattern. It's going back and forth and around - but we can't get it to do a straight stitch no matter what! DH figures that is gummed up - and should work fine when he gets her all cleaned up. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psd5ac14a9.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps737e4c2f.jpg She came in an OK cabinet - and has all the attachments. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps18e81daa.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps58bc52dd.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps2310bb17.jpg She belonged to the guy's 95 year old Grandma, and he didn't want to keep the machine. He said he's getting a whole lot of other stuff from Grandma, so didn't mind having the machine go to someone that will appreciate it. So we get her loaded up and head back to Sioux Falls to pick up the 66. She's what we expected - DH wants her for parts. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psf44ab26b.jpg The lady said " oh, and this came with it" and handed me . . . . yea, another singer buttonholer. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...pse060c7f9.jpg Dh commented that the hinges were still attached to the machine - and the lady said "I've got a cabinet out in the garage if you might be interested" So we went and looked - and found this beauty. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps2d19db38.jpg This is another item I really don't need more of http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps138c1e57.jpg - but then she said "I took the lid off, but still have it" and shows me this lid - it's in very good condition! So for $20 we brought the cabinet home too. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps58b5f6ab.jpg I've got a few with lids that look like this - so am glad to get one in nice condition. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps554f201b.jpg |
Looks like you had a good day. I would have bought the stand too. It seems a good lid IS hard to find. I'm not sure how many hours I'm going to have in patching the one I'm working on. It's not about the time spent thankfully.

You found some real treasures!!

That looks like a very profitable trip! I like the markings on the lid for the treadle table. Of course I love the necchi. I am so jealous.
