Road Trip - What came home with us this time

Along with what is looking like 300 yards of fabric and a table and two rolling cabinets from Ikea, we brought home two sewing machines.

The first is a singer 15-125, the potted motor version of this style. I already have a black 15-75, so this is the one needed to complete that. I'm pretty sure I've got all the Singer IF/15's that I want now.

The Singer came in the cabinet on the right, and the real prize came in the cabinet on the left.

And here she is, named "Loren" after her first owner. The seller was very happy to find someone that wanted Mom's old machine to love and enjoy.

This machine rates a 9.5 on my "neat-O" scale!

spool pins up (it comes with covers that slip over them so they can spin with the spools.)

And the lid raised up

and the bobbin winder.

Those are great machines. I like the cabinets too.

Now, for the ultimate Neat-O part - the add on cam drive. This was a seperate unit that could be purchased and installed on the machine.

The seller had not listed that it came with attachments, and I got excited when I saw the box sitting on the cabinet - a real treasure chest!

Original attachment box - with lots of attachments inside.

Another bag of goodies with a walking foot and a darning foot, extra bobbins and a razor blade dispenser (half full).

A buttonholer that fits this machine

And three manuals, plus the box that I was really hoping to find.

Inside the box - it's all there!

Here is where the ultimate Neat-O factor comes in. The cam unit has bars that you attach to control the stitch width and needle position (you use one or both, depending on the stitch you want).

There is a belt that goes from the flywheel to cam unit to make it work.

Here is the underside for those that are interested.

The motor is underneath, and drives a small cogged belt that turns a pulley on the outside of the machine, and another belt goes from that to the flywheel - which means this machine could easily be put on a treadle.

Here is Loren's "plain" sister - just a straight stitch girl.

While I'm not seriously looking for one, if I get a chance at a good deal on an open arm Anker, I'll grab that one fast too!

I know nothing about vintage machines, but just stopped by to tell you that your post lifted my spirits. I smiled as you shared your excitement about your great find. My bet is that you are a happy, energetic person with a bright out-look on life. Keep it up! Loved reading your post.

Cathy, I only got one photo -- the green machine -- is there a problem with my computer? or what?
