Sew excited! I have my mom's Singer Sewing Machine 101-3
 

Hello, My mom is 96 and decided to give me her wonderful Singer 101. Does anyone know where I can purchase the original or copied manual? I want to make sure I take good care of "ANNA" the sewing machine. Especially the oiling of the machine. Any helpful hints would be much appreciated.

I just checked the sight and the manual listed is for 101-4 101-12 I am not sure how close the 101-3 is to these machines.

There is a significant difference between some of the 101 machines. I've got the one where the "foot control" is built into the machine and it uses a special knee control built into the cabinet. Pretty neat machine.

You can find manuals on eBay pretty often, but do watch to get the correct one, sometimes it's little things that have changed, like the style of light, and then it's not a big deal unless you want to get the exactly correct manual for the machine.

Google free manuals for your machine and see what comes up. I don't know the diff. between the 101 machines, I think they are neat looking though.

Ismacs has a list of 101 versions but not very detailed; 101-10 and 101-11 have aluminum body, most common was cast iron. How does the automatic lubrication of this model work? Never heard of it before, I think the meshing gears are to be greased, cleand and regreased anually. It's a very interesting model, I have never seen in real life, and they don't turn up often around here.

this machine has an oil reservoir and wicks to move the oil to were it needs to go. Singer must have decided it wasn't that great either, as it's the only model that has it.

The 101 I have came standard with an extended set of attachments. Mine is an early version - and has a little pull chain to turn the light on and off.
