I know this is a place for older machines but can someone tell me if the is a place to ask question about newer machines? Thank you!!

I sure don't know much more than some times people put needles in backwards they don't sew - little things like that are the same as the vintage. If it has plastic in it and the plastic parts are broken you may need to find a different machine - costs more to repair than to replace.

You could ask, but a miriam said above if its plastic then, you might have to look into a replacement or professional repair.

If you have a question about a machine, just give the make and model and if anyone has the same one maybe they can help. You could ask in the main section if no one can help in the antique section.

Well I bought a Singer quantum 2623 sewing machine for $20.00..I was so excited..Got it home and it sewed so good...I decided the change the needle but I couldn't get it out...I unscrewed the screw thing that tighten the needle all the way out but still wouldn't come out...I pulled and pulled and it finally did..I was so excited till I went to put another one in and couldn't get it to go in...I think what has happened is the screw thing has broken off in there? Just wonder if it could be fixed? Is there anyway to get the piece out? Thank for any help!

Can you return it? It sounds like somebody must have known about that one. I have no idea how to fix that. If it were vintage, I would take off the clamp and look it over - if it was ok I'd put it back on - if not I'd pull one off a junker - if it takes a regular screw you might be able to find one on line somewhere. If I had that machine and had only $20 in it I'd take the whole thing apart just to see how it works. LOL :D:D:D actually, I've done that - My sister and I bought a plastic machine just to take it apart - we did get it going after a couple hours but we never liked it.

If you can lay your hands on the correct size 'tap & die' tools you can probably get the rest of the screw out and replace the broken screw. Check with a local machinist...they may have the tools you need.

It is very hard to use a puller on the tiny screws.
