Sewing Machine Jackpot Sale!
Take a look at the pictures at the beginning of the 9th row on this estate sale posting:
http://www.estatesaleslubbock.com/NextSale.html I understand that the owner of the estate operated the local Singer sewing machine repair shop up until about 3 years ago. I think it will be interesting to see what is at the sale. AFter today's FW find, I am not looking for another machine. However, I am hoping that there will be some attachments and manuals, especially repair manuals. I wonder if the estate sale people will have spent much time in sorting things out. The weather forecast is for over 100 degree weather on Sunday. It won't be much fun waiting in line to get inside, but maybe it will be worth it. Dayle |
On my goodness, did you see all the lovely machines displayed and a few more under what appear to be sewing machine tables? I wouldn't mind buying a feather weight machine myself but its miles away….. I wish you al the best in finding what you are looking for.

Follow-up to the estate sale --
It is 102 this afternoon, and that garage was sweltering. The sale was everything I dreamed it would be! My friend had spotted what looked like a FW card table in one picture. She was right! Well, it could be a 301 table. I will look closely tonight or tomorrow when it is cooler in the garage. There is a lot of dust on the table. The cut-out piece is present, and believe it or not, so is the original big Singer box that it all came in from the factory. I picked up another 301, but don't know if it works or not. The hand wheel turns, and the bobbin case is present. Checking that out will also have to wait for another day. I also got several boxes of vintage Singer attachments and several old manuals. Someone else got to the sheds in the back before I did. I was so afraid that someone would take the table and the 301 even with the "sold" signs on them. I wouldn't let them out of my sight, so I paid for them and got them in the car before coming back in. Anyway, by the time I made it to the sheds, someone had two big boxes filled with attachments in boxes out in the shade. Too late on those. It was a fun time, prices were cheap, and the crowd was genial, although the heat was terrible. Dayle |
Sounds like my kind of sale!!! I bet ya had a ball.
|
Wow! there are a lot of machines there. Wish I could be there to see the machines and the teapot collection. Will you be posting pictures of what you get?
|
Update on the table: The insert fits neither my 301 nor FW. They are too small. The box says "316", and I found one source that calls the 316 the Monterey style.
So now I am looking for information as to what machine it fits. The hole does not have a notch like the table for the 400 and 500 series. What other machines did they make tables for? Dayle |
It's a mystery. I hope ya solve it.
|
WoW. Wish I lived closer or had a way to get there today. Oh well. Maybe next time.
Have a blessed week ahead. debra |

Sounds like you really hit the right sale!! Glad it met all your expectations .. .do share photos of your purchases.
|
Wow I'd say that is going to be some sale. Wish I could go look.
|
Wow! Definite sensory overload! Just think of the fun we could have there!! ;)

It looks like she was a collector of many different things. Quite a lot of the machines on the 2nd table are plastic wonders. I do wish they'd show a picture of the machine in the treadle cabinet. I see a Singer 401 on the floor next to the serger. I'm so happy that the estate sale isn't in my part of Texas. I'd be there in no time flat.

More sale update: Purplefiend, an acquaintance of mine bought the treadle on the first day. I didn't see the price, but I did see the machine. It was a Red Eye - 66, nice cosmetic condition. She looked up the serial number, and it was from the 1920's. The slide plate looked like a replacement, so I am thinking the whole machine had probably been reconditioned. The estate sale owner had the talent to do that. The treadle cabinet looked too good to be old. It may have been refinished -- the condition was lovely.
Update on the card table that I bought -- the cutout matches the size of a 311 table, according to the ismacs website. I went back to the sale the second day, because some of the pages on a Pfaff 230 manual I had bought were missing, and I had noticed loose pages in one of the sheds. Luckily, they were the right ones. There were NO sewing machines left for sale. They said everything left from the first day had been bought up by one person on Monday morning. However, there were cabinets left in the sheds, as well as a bushel basket full of foot controllers. It was one of the most interesting estate sales I have been too! Dayle |
Dayle I'm so glad that ya found your pages. Great!
