Shipping a 201
 

Hi everyone. I'm thinking of buying this 201K in a cabinet while visiting my sister in Edmonton. Important question is can I take the cabinet apart(ie. legs off) to fit into a plastic tote as I have to fly home to Newfoundland. Is this feasible? Or am I dreaming that I can take this with me. Even if I had to mail some of the legs and maybe the stool? Thanks!

I do not know about the cabinet, whether it disassembles... however, if you pack light otherwise, then the SM itself can be your carry on. If the cabinet does come apart, then you could bubble wrap and box the heck out of it and call it oversized luggage. However, be aware that the charge for that, or for shipping, might sink you.

Still, even without the cabinet, I bet you will love the machine! :-)

You'll have to look, and sometimes it means popping apart a glue joint -hopefully the glue is brittle and will give instead of the wood.

The old cabinets come apart - some of the newer ones don't - so you'll have to look and see if it's glued or got lots of hardware holding it together.

You should be able to find a 'new' cabinet at home if necessary.

I've had 2 of those cabinets, and am fairly certain that each leg unscrews from the cabinet. The cabinet itself, however, is pretty long and wide, so I don't know what sort of a plastic tote it would fit into. The legs might unscrew from the stool seat as well.

Finding a machine, cabinet, and matching stool, for that price, in what looks like good condition, doesn't happen very often, so I would try best you can to get it all home.

The shipping price could kill the deal though.
