shopgoodwill 128 is really....
 

I bought a refinished 128 from shopgoodwill last week for $10. I picked it up today and it's actually 127 from 1892. They said they were having trouble figuring out the model.
The little film can has several bobbins in it and the folks at goodwill claim it all works. The finish is really neat on it. Anybody know anything about the O'Keefe folks?

Neat old refurbed Singer. I've never seen one done in brown crinkle before. Always black.

I don't know anything about the company that did it. But it looks like they did a decent job of it.

Love the material that the case is covered with.

I'd say you did really good at $10. Enjoy your new machine. The faux reptile is a nice touch.

I'm guessing it was recovered in the 60s based on the reptile covering. That is a guess. I have a vintage clarinet from the 60s and it had a faux reptile case as well.

I have a Great Eastern's Rebuilt Singer Machine. It has a dark Chocolate brown crinkle on it. Singer SN dates 1918. Person I got it from said her mother bought it about 1945. There is a chip in the brown crinkle on the edge and it is black underneath. Mine is froze up. I will wait until after the holidays to tackle it. I think it is just gunked up with poor oil. Good to see someone else has a rebuilt.

Ohh. Light green would be pretty.

The 127 wasn't made prior to about 1910, but the S/N puts it at 1892. It probably started life as a 27, and when refurbished they "modernised" it into a 127 (high bobbin winder and shuttle eject button).

Not surprising they were confused: So was I.
