Singer 128 attachments, vs. other vintage Low Shank.
 

I was messing with the old HC 28 (Great Britain), and put a modern swiveling foot on it. It did ruffling all by itself! Problem is the feed dogs are shorter, and don't come back as far under the presser bar, compared to the 27 Sphinx treadle, I have also been messing with. The good side is, you can easily stitch 1/8" from the edge, if you wanted to. Miniature quilts?[ATTACH=CONFIG]495294[/ATTACH]

And from the side, maybe you can see how the heel of the swiveling foot hits the needle plate. This was noticed only after I adjusted the presser foot up to give the 5/16" clearance spec'd in the adjusters manual. [ATTACH=CONFIG]495295[/ATTACH]

I'm wondering if anyone knows if there was a different attachment set for the 28/128 than was used by her larger sisters??

Both my 28 (1895) and 27(1907) are like that, while the 127 (1922) and 128 (1925) are not.

And yes, the attachment sets for the older machines are very different, and for the older ones, they didn't come in the green cardboard boxes either. I think Singer went with the green boxes around the same time they went to the green manuals (I believe around 1913).

Opps - I was wrong, it's my pheasant 27 from 1895 that is the same as the 28 from 1895. The newer 27 has the wider space.

Though the 27 feed dog configuration is not exactly the same as the 28, the foot is the same width.

The Singer 27 from 1895 came with a puzzle box set of attachments. My 28 is a "k" and came with a very different set of attachments.

Very helpful, thanks! So does a "K" designation mean it was made in GB? Mine is a coffin top, that was probably the kind that can also be used in a treadle, as it has the holes for a belt.

Yes, K designates it was made in the Kilbowe factory. The UK machines came with a different style attachments.
