Singer 15 RAF!!

When your BFF texts you and tells you about an "old treadle" at a local antique store, you slap on some make up, get dressed, and go check it out. I'm glad I did. It's a Singer 15 with RAF decals. 15 treadles are few and far between 'round these parts (NE Oklahoma). 15 treadles with RAF decals even more so. Suffice to say, she followed me home, went through a very impromptu Spa Treatment, and she was sewing by 9:00PM last night. I'm not typically one to name my VSM, but I have named my new girl "Winona," after my BFF. :o

AND as an added bonus, my hubby has all ready stripped the cabinet, and has two coats of stain back on it. It should be complete by tomorrow! :o:o

**I'll post pics from my computer later. They aren't uploading onto my post from my iPad.

Boy, grass doesn't grow under your feet!

Pretty machine. What does RAF stand for?

Ha!! I guess not!

RAF = Royal Air Force. I think it was manufactured in Scotland.

Wow, great find! Please post a picture of the cabinet too. I love all of the variety of treadle cabinets.

RAF: Royal Air Force, certain Singer machines made in Britain were decaled with the RAF insignia, see the center decal on that beauty. I have only read about it, I do not recall if they were done before or after WW2. Please anyone with better info than me, jump in here:-)

Beautiful machine, perfectly understandable why it would follow you home.

Some info regarding RAF decals can be found at https://www.quiltingboard.com/vintag...s-t234074.html which links to http://www.singersewinginfo.co.uk/15/
Another link to the page just about RAF http://www.singersewinginfo.co.uk/decals/decal06/

When doing some research for http://www.victoriansweatshop.com/po...8388001?trail=
I found that there are RAF decals on some later (after 1963) machines which were NOT made in Scotland or Canada.

Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do.
