singer 1652

Hello all,

A friend had me locate a Singer 1652 for her. Found one on e-bay and it arrived Saturday. The machine was well packed, maybe professionally, and was ready to sew. The machine was made in Brazil in the early 80's. It had a sample swatch on very heavy material showing that it can handle thick fabric. Machine was in excellent condition showing a recent servicing. My question is one, does anyone have/use one and two, how do you adjust the pressure on the foot? This machine is noisy compared to others in my collection, is that normal. Any info will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Soman2

Are you sure it's a Singer. I only see Kenmore on e-bay.

Yep, it was purchased 11/11 from e-bay seller zbay025.

Just checked and found several Singer 6215c on e-bay. Also one 6212 that has a few less features.

Okay I'm confused. Is it a 1652 or a 6215?

Cari

Edit- There is no manual for a 1652 so it must be a 6215. The manual makes no mention of presser foot pressure so it isn't adjustable.

It is a 6215C- sorry, but I did a lot of solvent welding(cpvc) in an enclosed area yesterday and my mind is not up to 100%:D Thanks for the comeback!

No problem Joe, I have days like that with no reason why!:D As for it being noisy, it doesn't surprise me. Is it a 1980s machine?

Cari

I was told an early 80's model

I could be wrong but it seems to me that the 80s were a time of some real low quality. Not just sewing machines but a lot of things. (Chrysler K cars and Ford Escorts come to mind). The "how can we build this cheaper?" mentality was in full force. I've had a couple 80s sewing machines and noticed they were noisier and not built near as well as my older ones.

I had one around here once. Plastic wonder I was happy it sewed at all and glad to see it go.
