Can anyone help me with the year and model of this singer I bought. serial # FR2985070[ATTACH=CONFIG]345606[/ATTACH]

Yes. Very interesting foot control. Think I will restore this one and keep for mr. For awhile anyway.

is that one belt drive or a wheel drive ?

I've only seen white of that type foot pedal... Thats pedal must use springs inside to controll the speed, last week I was able to source a few new springs, The SM shop scarthed his head looked and looked finally found about 6 springs, then get a flash back of when he tossed out boxes of new springs.

something I wonde on the FR whites,, everyone I have had with the gold deecals, has also had the same on the column. yet like yours I see add on C/L, and the machine is missing every decal on the column and dont look like they were ever on there ,,,
can you tell if it ever had two large decals on that column, they would have also been on the back..

The column decals are normaly very bad, in those case the arm and head were also as bad,, The red and green colors are first

It's a friction drive motor. On the end there is a wheel that uses two (2) bobbin winding tyres to drive the hand wheel. NEAT motors.

I think I can see the winder , LOL also the motors swings to the inside for storage ???

In the RF whites I have gotten ( 4 ) everyone turns there nose up, There ugly ,, after redoing there finish and cab's

This is treadles, they always want to play with the whites first, two are portables with the friction drive, the hand wheel appears the same at first , but those don't have a pulley. Then on c/l I was one that had a belt drive motor,
That is the only belt driven portable FR white I've seen like that ..

this one would also be on my keeper list ..

now the motor mount on those have only been two screw holes on the back of the column, there no cast in mount like a singer

Yes this machine is different. Here is a back side showing how the motor spins out of the way. I think I will restore and keep just to talk about. Time of year for that. Hide in the basement.

The one I picked up yesterday has a chubby little stationary black motor and will need a belt. You're right, the red is almost gone, the green is 50% and the gold looks pretty good. Not quite as pretty as this one. Thank you, Caroline for the dating site. Mine is a 1926. I have a decal inside the pillar, but none on the back. Bezzer, that's a good looking machine.
