Singer 221-1?
I just bought this machine on ebay. It only had minutes left and no one had bid on it. It says it is a 221-1, but is it? Did I screw up?

I don't know about the -1, I don't know all the variations of Featherweights, but it's certainly a Featherweight and you got it for a good price. I don't think you screwed up.

Yes - nice 221-1 there, and that is a very nice price, especially if you are in Canada and don't have to pay the high shipping.

Being in Canada and the $50 shipping evidently scared off U.S. Buyers. Good score.

Good price, looks like crappy pictures and some dirt may have stopped buyers. So you won!

There's some wear to the decals, which makes it a good candidate for piecing - you don't have to treat it with kid gloves or display it on a shelf. And, as the others have said, the shipping cost probably discouraged bidders, so you got yourself a nice Featherweight. Enjoy!
PS - The serial number for your machine was allotted June 4, 1946. |
Score! Congrats!
