As fate would have it, the woman selling the machine called me last night to see if I was still interested. Apparently there were no other calls about it and she had no room for this newly inherited machine. I'm happy to report I got my first $10.00 machine! She's not pretty (yet), but the before and after should be remarkable. :)

no matter how you look at it a $10 machine is a super bargain. if ever i come across that machine with that price (as kenmorerulesall said) there will always be a room for one machine. congrats. and post pics please.

DBx1 needles are the exact same as 206x13 except for the fact that DBx1 needles are round shank. Singer developed the 306 from industrial machines (timing belt) and used an industrial needle. They had to grind a flat shank for it to fit into all the other domestic needle systems. I use a tweezer to orient the needle by the scarfs, have afull rang eof needles to use and not a problem one!

Don't use the DBx1 needle. It isn't the same as a 206x13 and you are just asking for trouble. There are plenty
of 206x13 needles out there. Also don't modify it to try and use the 15x1.

I've been able to use the dbx1 needle in mine, but will probably only use them if I need something other than an 11-14 206x13 needle.

The new bobbin case should work well. Why isn't it? The needle hole and upper is in exactly the same spot it should be, at the right time. It doesn't interfere with bobbin case or thread formation, and it has been tested by more than one person. I can understand adjusting the needle bar for a 15x1 needle will offset the point where the needle hole passes just enough to interefere, but if you use the new bobbin case it seems to sort out any problems? Neither is there any problem with continued use of 206x13 needles.
