Singer 31-20 Industrial
 

I have been looking for a working industrial for a while. I've been fascinated by these huge beasties.
found one this weekend, and had a try at the clutch drive. It was pretty fun. Lots of extra place to oil. It is very smooth. And it is mine. Head shots only today. Knee presser foot lift wasn't connected.

I am going to guess that it takes a 16x87 needle based upon what other similar Series 31 machines take. Jon may correct me. Needles are still available.

Thanks, Maria, I was blessed with a bunch of bobbins and needles. hmmm slower than I guessed, but prolly faster than I will ever use it.

On it's base with a GE clutch motor under it.

Got it all back togther again. One surpise. When I turned the motor on, there was a dip in the lights in the house.

Must be more than .5 amp. Hehe.

What a great looking table! I have a clutch motor on my Singer 96-10. Needs rewiring.

I had a clutch motor on my Chandler walking Foot industrial, but I changed it to a servo motor. More my speed. My dad was an upholsterer and made furniture and he whipped along on the clutch motor.

I just sewed through 7 layers of upholstery fabric.

That is a very nice machine.
